What We’re Playing This Weekend

  • Jim Norman, Staff Writer: This weekend, I’m captivated by Balatro. Despite my best intentions to diversify my gaming, Balatro’s allure is undeniable. The gameplay is addictive, and the thrill of achievement keeps me coming back for more.
  • Ollie Reynolds, Staff Writer: Balatro continues to dominate my weekend gaming plans. Its compelling gameplay and challenging dynamics make it hard to put down. Meanwhile, I’m also previewing a new title and revisiting the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, which has been a delightful surprise.
  • Kate Gray, Contributor: For me, it’s all about Balatro. However, I did take a brief detour to play a cooperative game about space station repairs with a friend. It was a refreshing change of pace!
  • Gonçalo Lopes, Contributor: After wrapping up a game with a memorable soundtrack, I’m returning to Mad Max. I’ve got some time left on the demo before the full version launches. Additionally, I’ll be spending time with a long-titled game from a series I adore, provided I can tear myself away from Balatro. As a special mention, my game of the week is DUNE, the 1992 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi novel. It’s a nostalgic trip back to the universe of Arrakis that still captures the essence of the original story wonderfully.
