Trisha Delighted as Vijay’s Ghilli Returns, Feeling Like a Full Circle Journey

The 2004 hit movie Ghilli, featuring Vijay and Trisha, made a comeback in cinemas on April 20, much to the joy of its fans.

The theatres in Tamil Nadu had been experiencing a slow week with no major releases scheduled. To capitalize on this opportunity, the creators of Dharani’s film, starring Vijay and Trisha, decided to re-release a remastered 4K version of the 2004 blockbuster in various locations including Tamil Nadu, UK, France, and Ireland, eliciting excitement among the fans.

Trisha’s Reaction to Ghilli Re-Release

Ghilli is a remake of Gunasekhar’s 2003 Telugu movie Okkadu, which featured Mahesh Babu and Bhumika in the lead roles. Regarded as one of the finest works of Vijay and Trisha, the film holds a special place in their filmography. Trisha took to Instagram to share two stills of herself and Vijay from the movie.

She also posted videos of fans dancing to the movie’s songs in the theatre while she danced on-screen, expressing her feelings, “If this isn’t a full-circle moment, I don’t know what is. The actor who portrayed the antagonist in the film also shared a picture with Vijay, captioning it, “Hai Chellam sssss. We are back.”

Numerous fans have shared photos and videos taken in theatres worldwide while watching the film. One fan wrote, “FRANCE. SINGAPORE. MALAYSIA. SRI LANKA. #Ghilli storm hits overseas markets and TODAY TAMIL NADU is getting ready for the festival,” along with videos from the film screening. Another fan expressed, “Amazing response for First Day First Show, Velu’s raid once again on the big screen.”

Upcoming Projects

Vijay is presently filming for Venkat Prabhu’s [ppp1], where he will be seen in a dual role. The movie, co-starring Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, and Prabhu Deva, is set to hit the theaters in September. He is yet to announce his final project before venturing into politics in 2026. Trisha is currently working on [ppp2] with director Magizh Thirumeni alongside actors Ajith Kumar and Arjun Sarja, as well as on Thug Life with director Mani Ratnam and actor Kamal Haasan. She is also involved in Malayalam films Ram and Identity, in addition to Vishwambhara in Telugu.
