Balancing Act: Levittown Resident Thrives as Global Trick Shot Pool Pro and Police Officer

Steve Markle, a resident of the Levittown area, has gained international recognition as one of the top trick shot pool players globally. At 32 years old, Markle has successfully established himself in the world of pool, showcasing his skills on television, various online platforms, and in numerous competitions while juggling a full-time position as a police officer in Lower Makefield Township.

Markle’s journey into the world of pool began during his childhood when he discovered a passion for the game while seeking refuge from the summer heat at a friend’s house. His enthusiasm led his family to invest in a pool table for their basement, a decision that required some convincing on Markle’s part to accommodate the sizable addition.

A pivotal moment in Markle’s pool career occurred when he learned a captivating trick shot from a player known as “Jay May” at a local spot in Penndel Borough. Inspired by the growing popularity of YouTube, Markle started sharing videos of his trick shots, attracting a global audience and establishing his presence in the online pool community.

Transitioning into professional pool during his high school years, Markle dedicated himself to competing in various tournaments worldwide, steadily climbing the ranks and earning opportunities to showcase his talent on a global stage. His prowess in trick shots even caught the attention of Lincoln, leading to his appearance in a 2019 commercial highlighting the Nautilus SUV’s features.

Despite his success in the pool industry, Markle remains committed to his career as a police officer, emphasizing that he has no intentions of turning his passion for pool into a full-time occupation. Supported by the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, Markle continues to excel in both his roles, with his colleagues showing interest and encouragement by following his achievements in tournaments.

Markle’s recent victory at the 2023 US National Artistic Pool Championship solidifies his position as a top player, currently holding the ninth rank globally and having previously represented ESPN’s Team USA. As he prepares to compete in the upcoming World Championship in Michigan, Markle remains dedicated to balancing his dual passions and excelling in both realms.
