On Tuesday, April 23, star, 70, opened up about a hobby that has given her a sense of happiness and contentment during a rough period of her life in a post shared to Instagram.
“Gardening has been a constant source of joy in my life,” she wrote alongside a series of photos that featured various flowers and foilage. “It feeds my body, mind and soul. It does you a world of good. You’re out in fresh air and sunshine (or clouds and rain) and your hands are in dirt (wear gloves!). You’re getting plenty of exercise, pushing a wheelbarrow, pulling weeds, pulling the hose to water everything and walking everywhere.”
“You’re nourishing the soil and nurturing plants to grow to their best ability. It’s meditative and energizing all at once,” she continued, adding that she reaps in her garden’s beauty in the early morning and night. “My daughter and I highly recommend it to everyone!”
Nist’s therapeutic garden post comes a little more than a week after she and Turner announced their decision to divorce after three months of marriage.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner, 72, said in a joint interview with Nist that aired on .
The former pair both said they were really nervous about how viewers of the hit ABC would react to the news, knowing that their union inspired so many singles in their 70s looking for love.
“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch the Golden Bachelor and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope,” Nist said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
“Don’t give up,” she added. “Stay in it. Stay hopeful. ‘Cause we are.”
Turner gave his final rose to Nist on the season finale of on Nov. 30, 2023. The series followed the father of two (and grandfather of two) on his journey .
