Spotlight on Cassandra Sheets: Empowering Women at the Center for Family Life and Recovery

UTICA, N.Y. – The fourth nominee for Women Wednesday at WKTV expressed gratitude for being recognized and considered blessed to receive this honor.

Cassandra Sheets, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Family Life and Recovery, played a pivotal role as a founding member of the organization 13 years ago. This initiative stemmed from the merger of family services with the MV Council on Alcoholism and Addiction, leading to the establishment of CFLR.

Throughout her tenure, Sheets has excelled in cultivating leaders within the organization, a task she is deeply passionate about.

Reflecting on recent developments, Sheets mentioned the upcoming distribution of the annual report, showcasing the significant growth CFLR has experienced. Emphasizing that CFLR focuses on supporting individuals in sustaining and maintaining their recovery journey rather than functioning as a treatment or rehab center.

She elaborated on the organization’s mission, highlighting the importance of assisting individuals in finding purpose, excelling in their endeavors, and providing essential support to navigate life without substances.

Despite her current success, Sheets’ career trajectory initially veered towards retail management during her college years at Niagara University. However, a social work minor sparked her interest, eventually leading her to discover her true passion for empowering individuals through knowledge and leadership development.

Acknowledging the supportive environment at home, including her husband and 16-year-old twin boys, Sheets extends her commitment to uplifting individuals on their recovery path, nurturing future leaders within the agency, possibly her own successor.

The sentiment captured in a note placed among serenity stones resonates deeply with Sheets, recognizing her courage to advocate for truth and uplift others.

In her own words, Sheets expressed fulfillment in her role, juggling familial responsibilities alongside her professional duties, shaping lives, and nurturing future leaders within the organization.
