Enjoys embracing a more serene lifestyle beyond the realm of filmmaking.
The British actress, who is back in the spotlight to star in the sci-fi sequel, shares with PEOPLE that despite occasionally indulging in the glitz of Hollywood with her husband, they prefer the tranquility of a different setting.
“We reside in the countryside, far removed from the hustle and bustle, in a truly rural setting,” reveals the 41-year-old Hall. “We are actually quite reserved individuals.”
However, she adds, “Nevertheless, I believe that as a consequence, when we do venture out… when we genuinely seize the opportunity to go out and engage, we both relish those moments and make the most of them.”
Having first crossed paths while co-starring in the 2014 Broadway production Machinal, Hall and Spector, 43, tied the knot in 2015, and they .
During the awards season, the couple made a stylish appearance on Oscars weekend earlier this month for a romantic night out in Los Angeles.
“It’s truly enjoyable to attend such events when you are not associated with any of the competing movies because you get to catch up with friends and honor the industry,” expresses Hall.
“Especially this year,” she continues, “after the strikes and all, everyone was eager to unwind and have fun, celebrating the prospect of creating more films and drawing audiences back to the theaters.”
Apart from the glitzy affairs of the industry, Hall mentions that she still dresses impeccably even when she is unwinding at home.
“I dress up even when I am at home. Even in the garden, I take the time to dress up because I have a genuine passion for fashion and enjoy the process,” she shares. “I consider it as the initial creative act of the day, so I always put together an outfit even if no one else sees it because it brings me joy.”
Reflecting on her choice to establish roots in the serene countryside, the actress-director, , emphasizes the importance of finding equilibrium.
“I appreciate leading a rather peaceful life, but I also like to have the flexibility to immerse myself in the city’s cultural scene, and we are conveniently close enough to do just that and socialize with friends for a period,” explains Hall.
“I engage in those activities for a while, and then I retreat back into seclusion!” she humorously adds.
Acknowledging that her profession poses challenges in terms of balancing work and family time, Hall, whose late parents were , describes acting as both a “blessing and a curse” when it comes to prioritizing her family.
“One cannot be a responsible parent without recognizing the demanding nature of this profession and lifestyle, and hence, it is crucial to establish boundaries to ensure you are not too far removed,” she reflects.
“Sometimes it can be extremely challenging when you are frequently away, leading an unconventional life filled with travel, but my family accompanies me and adapts,” Hall shares. “Yet, there are moments when it is a blessing because you work for a stretch and then have extended periods where work is not a priority.”
Grateful for the flexibility her job offers, allowing her to take breaks and focus on being a full-time mother and parent intermittently, Hall considers herself “fortunate.”
“I engage in painting when I am at home to stay occupied,” reveals Hall, “and then I have the freedom to pick up my daughter from school. This way, I feel I have been creatively productive and have accomplished tasks during the day without being away.”
