Towle Theater’s New Season Opens with “The Story of My Life”

Leadership Transition and New Beginnings at Towle Theater

As Towle Theater ushers in its 2024 season, it not only welcomes fresh productions but also navigates significant changes in leadership. Jeff Casey, a founding leader since 2003, steps back to a supporting role within the Board of Directors alongside Kevin Bellamy, paving the way for Emily Nelson to assume the role of executive director. This transition marks a new chapter for Towle Theater, reflecting a period of evolution and renewed vision in its approach to delivering captivating theatrical experiences.

“The Story of My Life”: A Musical Exploration of Friendship and Memories

“The Story of My Life,” set to open Towle Theater’s 2024 season, offers audiences a unique theatrical experience with its focus on the profound friendship between two men, Alvin and Thomas. This musical, directed by Jeff Casey with assistance from Nikki Dizon and musical direction by Elizabeth Tuazon, explores the intricate dynamics of lifelong friendships through its intimate storytelling and musical interludes. Scheduled for performances from February 23 to March 10, the play invites audiences into a reflective journey on love, life’s changes, and the lasting impact of friendships.

Intimate Staging and Promising New Talent

Despite a short-lived run on Broadway in 2009, “The Story of My Life” is expected to find a fitting home at Towle Theater, benefiting from its intimate 120-seat venue which enhances the play’s deeply personal themes. This production not only highlights the talents of newcomers Daniel Rausch and Max Trotter, who bring the central friendship to life, but also showcases a minimalist set design that eloquently captures the essence of fleeting time and memories, adding depth to the narrative’s exploration of past and present. This staging promises to deliver a compelling and emotionally resonant experience to its audience, making it a must-see this season.
