What is your most prized possession? This question holds diverse meanings for different individuals. While some might value a luxurious sports car or an extensive collection of handbags, others with a less materialistic outlook may prioritize their health or family.
For Didi Krishna Kumari, an esteemed Indian spiritual leader overseeing the Sadhu Vaswani Mission—a philanthropic organization dedicated to education, healthcare, and social welfare—time stands as her most cherished asset.
“Inch by inch, time holds more value than gold. While gold can be acquired inch by inch, time’s worth is beyond material riches,” expresses Kumari during a video conference from the mission’s headquarters in Pune, located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.
Kumari emphasizes that our utilization of time significantly influences our mental and physical well-being. She advocates embracing three guiding principles daily, with being one of them.
According to Kumari, immersing oneself in nature’s embrace can be incredibly invigorating. A serene stroll in the park suffices, but Kumari advises leaving behind distractions like headphones and step counters to truly connect with nature.
Additionally, incorporating moments of silence into the daily routine holds paramount importance in Kumari’s philosophy. She suggests commencing the day with tranquility instead of complaints, as silence possesses the transformative power to heal, energize, and uplift.
Devoting time each day to engage in positive activities constitutes the third principle advocated by Kumari. Whether it involves aiding others or indulging in uplifting readings and conversations, fostering positivity is key to personal growth.
Kumari is scheduled to impart further insights in Hong Kong this month through talks at the Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) on February 26 and 28. On February 24, she will participate in a session at the Sadhu Vaswani Centre in TST.
Central to Kumari’s teachings is the transformation from chaos to consistency, guiding individuals towards discovering happiness within themselves. She highlights the common tendency to seek external sources for happiness, success, and validation, leading to perpetual discontent. True happiness, she asserts, emanates from within, and challenges along the path are opportunities for growth rather than setbacks.
Drawing parallels to the metamorphosis of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, Kumari underscores the importance of embracing challenges as stepping stones towards personal evolution. Each obstacle encountered serves as a valuable lesson, propelling individuals towards greater heights.
Kumari’s spiritual journey has been profoundly influenced by her familial ties to Sadhu Vaswani, a revered spiritual luminary advocating education and women’s empowerment. Spirituality became an integral part of Kumari’s life from a young age, nurtured by her interactions with Sadhu Vaswani.
Continuing the legacy of her mentor, Dada JP Vaswani, Kumari upholds the mission’s principles worldwide, emphasizing self-improvement, communal chanting (kirtans), prayers, meditation, and compassion for all beings.
Prioritizing soulful development through meditation sessions and spiritual retreats, the mission underscores the significance of education in shaping a brighter future, starting with the nurturing of children.
