‘Discover AGLS’: Texas A&M’s Statewide Tour to Showcase College Programs

Texas A&M’s AGLS On Tour: Connecting With Future Aggies Across Texas

Texas A&M University’s Agricultural and Life Sciences (AGLS) department has launched an exciting tour, “AGLS On Tour,” aiming to connect directly with both prospective and admitted students across Texas. This state-wide initiative started on March 25 and will run through April 14, stopping in cities such as McAllen, San Antonio, Katy, and more. Jeffrey W. Savell, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor and Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences, along with other faculty leaders and students, will be present at each location to interact with attendees.

Engagement and Exploration at Each Stop

The tour is not just a series of visits but a comprehensive engagement event designed to introduce future students to the vibrant community and diverse academic opportunities at the College. During these stops, attendees have the unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with college leaders, hear from current students about their experiences, and learn how the college supports personal and academic growth. This direct interaction aims to foster a deeper understanding of the college’s environment and offerings.

A Closer Look at College Station’s Tour Event

At the College Station event, prospective students and their families were treated to a detailed presentation by Dr. Savell, outlining the college’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in agriculture and life sciences. To further engage attendees, the tour includes special sessions where potential Aggies can ask questions, participate in discussions, and even join in singing the Aggie War Hymn—an embodiment of the spirited community at Texas A&M. Each tour stop is carefully structured to ensure that both admitted students and their parents, as well as prospective families, receive personalized attention, making the college selection process both informative and reassuring.

Expanding Horizons Through Personal Interaction

Organized by Robert Sturdivant, the development program coordinator, the tour is a critical outreach effort that allows potential students to visualize their future at the College. By providing a platform for direct interaction, the tour helps demystify college life and showcases the extensive support systems available at AGLS. This initiative not only highlights the academic excellence of Texas A&M but also emphasizes the college’s dedication to building a supportive and engaging community.

Fostering Lasting Relationships and Offering Incentives

The tour is also an opportunity for the College to build lasting relationships with future students. At each event, admitted students are automatically entered into a scholarship draw, adding an extra incentive for participation. The gatherings feature light refreshments and provide a welcoming atmosphere for families to mingle, discuss and discover the opportunities at Texas A&M’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Through these interactions, the college aims to not only educate but also inspire the next generation of leaders in the field.
