People tend to overlook the magnificence of life in Springs. Since relocating from Sag Harbor Village to Clearwater Beach in Springs, I have found immense joy! Although life may be a bit slower and my commute to Bridgehampton a tad longer, I have no complaints as I get to pass by Three Mile Harbor Marina twice daily. Residing in Springs truly makes me feel at home.
When inquiring about Springs, people often describe it as “low key,” “chill,” or “relaxing.” These descriptors resonate with me, and I wholeheartedly concur. While Sag Harbor undeniably stands out as the most enchanting town I have ever resided in, the challenges of parking in July are not missed. Despite missing the vibrancy of the Village, life in Springs has exceeded all my expectations.
A friendly tip: residents of Springs never refer to it as “The Springs.” IYKYK.
Growing up on the East Coast, Springs evokes a sense of nostalgia. Serene neighborhoods interconnect via lush, meandering roads. Children eagerly await the bus at street corners, while young couples engage in leisurely jogs. I take pleasure in hiking and exploring the trails that meander through nature reserves and historic farms, eventually leading to the bay.
“It’s simple to fall in love with the lifestyle here,” remarks Romaine Gordon, a seasoned real estate agent and longstanding resident of Lion Head Beach Community in Springs. “Introducing this delightful community brings me immense joy; it encapsulates much of what makes The Hamptons special—tranquil, idyllic, surrounded by water, and in proximity to East Hampton and Amagansett Villages. Clearwater Beach—and Springs—is more than just a summer retreat.”
For summer renters, Springs is an excellent choice.
Clearwater Beach hosts a myriad of weekend activities, from yard sales to clam bakes and community events. Additionally, the neighborhood boasts a private beach park where one can barbecue, play basketball, swim, or launch a boat—everything converges towards the water!
I am not alone in my admiration—Springs emerges as one of the Hamptons’ burgeoning hamlets, witnessing an influx of new listings and constructions, particularly in Clearwater Beach. During a recent open house, I had the opportunity to catch up with Jennifer Wilson from the Wilson Team at Saunders & Associates, showcasing her co-exclusive listing. “This gem is fully furnished and primed for immediate Hamptons living. The renovation encompasses spacious interiors, abundant natural light, and upscale amenities, including a meticulously landscaped backyard and a sizable sunny pool. Everywhere you turn, the neighborhood pathways lead to the water.”
The Wilson Team also exclusively represents another property. “Buyers are notably impressed by the proximity to the water—just a half-mile from Clearwater Marina. Serene, well-lit, and waterfront living—that’s the essence of the Hamptons.”
Another new construction represented by Ed Bruehl and William Schumann underscores the intrinsic value of the hamlet. “In Springs, the stunning beaches offer tranquil protected waters and unparalleled sunsets over Gardiners Bay.”
“Gerard Drive, one of the Hamptons’ iconic yet lesser-known spots, is a stone’s throw away. On the opposite end, within the serene and charming Clearwater Beach neighborhood, the community Marina stands out as a prime attraction for residents with exclusive access to the private beach, marina, and amenities.”
I am continually amazed by the plethora of activities Springs has to offer. While being in close proximity to the Village’s eateries and shops was delightful, I can still cycle to Springs Tavern—a cozy bar with a welcoming neighborhood ambiance that I adore. Being nearer to Montauk also has its distinct advantages; I am just a brief 10-minute drive from Stephen Talkhouse and Rosie’s—two of my preferred spots in the Hamptons.
Exploring Springs proves to be a fulfilling way to spend an afternoon, with numerous cafes, museums, and parks scattered throughout the East Hampton Hamlet. Renowned as an artist colony, the Springs Historic District hosts a variety of activities and events year-round at Ashawagh Hall and the Pollock-Krasner Museum, among others.
