13-year-old Alexander Aragon tragically lost his life in a devastating house fire that occurred on March 11.
In Roseburg, Oregon, a heartbroken mother and father are grieving the loss of their beloved son, Alexander Aragon, following a fatal apartment fire on March 11th. The Roseburg Fire Department received a distress call at 7:46 p.m. on March 11th, reporting a fire at 2316 W. Harvard Avenue with a potential rescue operation underway. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a raging blaze engulfing the second and third floors of the building. Distressed residents informed the fire crews about the possible presence of a 13-year-old boy trapped inside the inferno.
Responders located Alexander Aragon unconscious on the second floor amidst the intense flames. Despite their swift efforts to extricate him through a second-floor window and transport him to a nearby hospital, it was, unfortunately, too late. Devastatingly, his parents, Antonio Aragon and Heather Dornon, received the heartbreaking news that their son did not survive.
Heather Dornan recounted that she and Alexander lived in the residence with his siblings. On the fateful day of the fire, Alexander was at home with his older brother, while Heather was dining with her parents. It was during this meal that she received the alarming call from Alexander, informing her of the fire’s outbreak.
Describing Alexander as a vibrant, affectionate, and compassionate individual, his parents emphasized his loving nature and the joy he brought to everyone around him. Despite facing financial challenges in arranging his funeral, the community rallied around the grieving family. Fundraising efforts were initiated to cover the funeral expenses and support Heather in finding a new place to live.
The outpouring of support from the community, including generous donations, fundraising events, and waived expenses by local businesses and the funeral home, has been profoundly moving for the family. Antonio and Heather expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support during this difficult time, highlighting the unity and compassion displayed by friends, strangers, and local establishments.
As they navigate through their grief, Antonio and Heather find solace in cherishing memories of Alexander through photographs and videos, holding onto each other and their loved ones for strength. They expressed their belief that Alexander is now in a better place, surrounded by their departed family members, and entrusted to God’s care.
