XENON Acquires Quantum’s Myriad Platform to Advance Life Sciences and Engineering Research

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 15, 2024 — Quantum Corp., a prominent provider of high-performance computing and sophisticated data storage solutions, has acquired Quantum Myriad, an advanced all-flash, scale-out file and object storage software platform.

XENON, a company specializing in high-performance computing and complex data storage, will now offer Myriad to its customers with data-intensive workloads requiring high-speed infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) models and multi-variant simulations in fields such as life sciences, medical research, and engineering.

With the addition of Myriad to their product offerings, XENON customers can now benefit from a comprehensive end-to-end data management solution, integrating various storage classes seamlessly, from hot data to cold data, all from a single vendor, alongside Quantum ActiveScale object storage.

XENON caters to clients in industries such as life sciences, research, and high-performance computing, providing solutions for complex parallel compute challenges and large-scale data management workflows across on-premises and cloud environments. The company’s focus on AI models and GPU-accelerated workloads aligns with the need for fast and robust storage solutions.

The innovative architecture of Myriad is designed to deliver exceptional performance at any scale by leveraging cutting-edge flash technologies. It offers inline data services like deduplication, compression, snapshots, clones, and metadata tagging to accelerate AI and machine learning data processing. Myriad also incorporates familiar cloud technologies such as microservices and Kubernetes for simplified deployment without the need for custom hardware.

XENON plans to showcase the capabilities of the Myriad system at upcoming trade shows to demonstrate its potential to prospective customers.

Recognizing the demands of AI workloads and GPUs, XENON acknowledges the importance of high-speed processing and long-term data protection. Myriad, combined with ActiveScale, addresses this need by providing a solution that supports continuous AI model operations and ensures data retention for future analysis and insights.

Dr. Dragan Dimitrovici, CEO of XENON, emphasizes the value of Quantum’s end-to-end solutions for their customers, particularly in the life sciences sector, where AI plays a crucial role in enhancing research activities.

Nick Elvester, general manager of primary storage at Quantum, highlights the strategic partnership with XENON and the significance of offering Myriad to customers in life sciences and medical research, where AI-driven solutions are paramount.

XENON and Quantum will be showcasing Myriad at Show 2024 in Sydney, Australia, from February 19-22, at booth 19.
