Priscilla Presley to Share Insights on Her Life with Elvis at Music Hall

Elvis and Priscilla Presley have captivated audiences for many years. Detroit residents now have the chance to delve into the lives of this iconic couple during “An Evening with Priscilla Presley” at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Detroit’s Music Hall.

During the event, Presley will recount personal anecdotes and engage with the audience, shedding light on her experiences as the wife of the legendary King of Rock ‘n Roll, who passed away in 1977 at the age of 42.

From their initial encounter when she was just 14 years old, Presley will narrate their life journey, reflecting on the unique experience of being married to one of the most adored individuals in history. She expressed, “I’m recounting our life story, from our first meeting to our life together and what it meant to marry perhaps the most beloved individual on the planet. People’s enduring love for him is a testament to the impact he had.”

The discussion, facilitated by iHeartRadio’s Jay Towers, will delve into Presley’s life, showcasing home videos and sharing intimate stories, offering a glimpse into their private world.

Describing the event as a rare opportunity to gain insight into the genuine story of Elvis and Priscilla, Jay Goldberg, president of Gold Entertainment, emphasized the exclusivity of this occasion.

While Priscilla Presley is widely recognized for her association with Elvis, she carved her own path as an actress, notably starring as Jenna Wade in the 1980s TV series “Dallas” and portraying Jane Spencer in the “Naked Gun” movies. While the event will touch upon her life up to the present day, the focus will predominantly be on her relationship with Elvis.

“I derive immense pleasure from recounting these tales,” she stated. “I welcome the chance to address inquiries and provide a deeper understanding of Elvis.”

The event coincides with the release of Sofia Coppola’s biographical film “Priscilla,” which premiered in November. Based on Presley’s 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me,” the movie portrays the courtship and marriage of the couple, highlighting both tender moments and a more critical view of the iconic singer as a controlling and unfaithful partner.

Reflecting on the film’s release, Presley initially harbored concerns about its accuracy and reception but commended Coppola for her portrayal.

Impressed by actress Cailee Spaeny’s portrayal of her, Presley offered guidance emphasizing sensitivity towards Elvis, a quality she values deeply.

While acknowledging Elvis’s temper, Presley clarified misconceptions surrounding his behavior, particularly addressing a scene in the film where an angry Elvis throws a chair, emphasizing that his actions were not as portrayed.

Despite their separation, Presley maintained a close relationship with Elvis until his passing. She remains dedicated to preserving his legacy, playing a pivotal role in the transformation of their renowned Graceland residence into a popular tourist destination through Elvis Presley Enterprises.

“There are many facets to him that people are unaware of,” she shared. “He was a remarkably superstitious yet extraordinary individual. I have yet to encounter anyone quite like him. He was truly a gift.”
