Enroll in Perrysburg Fire Division’s Latest Life-Saving Skills Course

PERRYSBURG, Ohio (WTVG) – The Perrysburg Fire Division will commence offering a CPR, AED, and babysitting course to the general public starting next week.

The significance of CPR training has been emphasized for generations, as possessing the knowledge and ability to administer it correctly can make a life-saving difference. Certified instructors will start teaching individuals in March how to assist someone experiencing cardiac arrest and manage severe blood loss effectively.

Aaron Harwell, the fire marshal for Perrysburg Fire Division, highlighted the practicality of acquiring these skills, stating, “This training equips you with a crucial skill that can be invaluable in emergency situations. It enables you to stay composed and navigate through the necessary steps.”

In addition to CPR and babysitting sessions, a new “lifesaver class” will be introduced this year. Harwell explained, “The new class focuses on hands-only CPR, AED usage, and techniques for controlling bleeding.”

Familiarity with these life-saving procedures can offer reassurance to individuals confronted with emergencies. Harwell emphasized, “Emergencies can occur unexpectedly, and being prepared with these skills is essential. The goal is to provide you with the confidence and readiness to assist others in need.”

Teaching these vital skills to others becomes pivotal in critical situations. Harwell stressed the importance of taking action promptly before professional help arrives, stating, “During those critical minutes before EMS arrival, it is crucial for bystanders to initiate life-saving measures to sustain vital functions until medical assistance is available.”

The inaugural life-saving skills class is scheduled for March 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fire Division Headquarters, with a fee of $15 per participant.
