Reflecting on a Remarkable Transformation: Seksan’s Journey Leading to ONE Friday Fights 58

On the brink of retirement from the sport of Muay Thai, Seksan was about to hang up his gloves, but his plans took a different turn with ONE Championship entering the picture.

The Thai veteran showcased an impeccable 8-0 record within the renowned martial arts organization in 2023, setting the stage for his upcoming 2024 debut in a 142-pound catchweight bout against the Japanese newcomer, Yutaro Asahi, scheduled for April 5.

While already a revered figure in Muay Thai circles, Seksan’s global prominence soared as a wave of new enthusiasts marveled at his distinctive fighting style.

Moreover, his relentless efforts not only solidified his own legacy but also secured his family’s future.

As he gears up for his next challenge at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, the 35-year-old reflected on his remarkable journey:

“Last year marked the pinnacle of my career. It was a year of unprecedented success and transformation. My life has undergone significant positive changes, especially in terms of the quality of life for my family.

“The key lies in self-care, rigorous training, and the unwavering support of my family, including my sons, wife, and parents.”

Throughout the intense battles of 2023, Seksan left no room for respite, engaging in several Fight of the Year contenders that captivated audiences from his debut clash in January to the thrilling three-round showdown in December.

Despite his flawless record in ONE Championship, Seksan remains unfazed by the pressure of maintaining it. His focus is not on preserving his streak but on continually delivering electrifying performances:

“At this moment, I feel content with my achievements. Transitioning from contemplating retirement to becoming a standout star has been a life-altering experience. My primary goal is to entertain the fans, both locally and globally, with my performances in the ring.”

Seksan’s Strategy for Victory Against Yutaro Asahi

Looking ahead to his upcoming bout with Yutaro Asahi, Seksan anticipates another high-octane encounter against the formidable Japanese contender.

The four-time Muay Thai World Champion holds Asahi in high regard and acknowledges the challenge posed by the newcomer’s ONE debut.

Assessing his opponent, “The Man Who Yields To No One” commented:

“Having studied his previous fights, I recognize his fluid combinations and agile footwork. I cannot afford to underestimate him, knowing that every opponent in ONE Championship is of elite caliber. This upcoming fight will undoubtedly test my skills once again.

“Asahi displays potent combinations, particularly in his body shots, and his proficiency with knee strikes. It is evident that he aims to engage me aggressively, seeking to engage in a toe-to-toe battle.”

Despite acknowledging Asahi’s strengths, the seasoned veteran, with over 275 fights under his belt, believes he holds the upper hand due to his extensive experience in Muay Thai, a discipline where he excels in utilizing a diverse array of striking techniques.

With a wider arsenal of offensive moves at his disposal, including punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and clinch strategies, Seksan plans to assert his dominance early in the contest on April 5.

He elaborated:

“Recognizing his relative inexperience in Muay Thai, particularly in close combat situations, I aim to exploit this vulnerability by leveraging my full range of techniques, including elbows and thrusting knees.

“Should the opportunity arise, I will not hesitate to pursue a swift knockout. Japanese fighters are known for their power-packed punches and intricate combinations. Despite acknowledging his speed advantage, I intend to capitalize on my elbow strikes and aim for a quick finish.”
