The fire originated in the kitchen of the family’s residence at 4 am on Tuesday, with the former champion being roused by the barking of the family dog, Hammer. Prompted by his pet’s warning, Coleman swiftly came to his parents’ rescue.

Initially, he saved his father followed by his mother, but unfortunately, he was unable to save his cherished pet from the engulfing flames. Despite sustaining no apparent injuries, Coleman endured severe smoke inhalation during the rescue mission.

“UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman was caught in a house fire last night where he saved his parents from the inferno. He re-entered the burning house to rescue his dog, who had alerted him to the fire. Coleman collapsed inside while attempting to save his pet and was subsequently airlifted to the hospital due to severe smoke inhalation,” tweeted MMA Orbit.

Meanwhile, his daughter Morgan Coleman provided an update on her father’s condition through her Instagram account. Alongside a family photo featuring herself, her father, and sister Mackenzie, she recounted the harrowing incident.

She narrated how her father heroically saved his parents but tragically lost their pet in the massive fire. She shared that her father is “currently fighting for his life after this courageous act,” portraying him as a “lifelong battler” and requesting prayers for his recovery during this challenging period. In a tribute to their beloved dog, she expressed, “we will deeply miss our sweet Hammer.”
