Hundreds of individuals flocked to the Albion Community Centre on February 3 to explore their next exciting travel opportunities at the Ridge Meadows Travel Expo. Organized by Expedia Cruises, this event showcased 18 travel industry vendors and offered nearly a dozen presentations to assist attendees in planning their upcoming vacations.
Kelly Lilley, the Maple Ridge manager for Expedia Cruises, expressed satisfaction with the expo’s turnout, attributing it to the combination of a pleasant venue and favorable weather on the day of the event.
Expedia Cruises has observed a surge in travel interest, as many families refrained from traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lilley noted a shift in the preferred type of travel, indicating a growing inclination towards longer and more exotic cruises, alongside the enduring popularity of Alaskan cruises due to their proximity.
The expo catered to a diverse audience with its wide array of participating vendors, including the bespoke travel company Goway Travel. Jason Stratford, an account manager at Goway, mentioned a gradual return to pre-pandemic travel patterns, particularly noting an uptick in bookings for cruise companies like Expedia Cruises.
While acknowledging a slower start in Canada compared to the U.S., Stratford highlighted the increasing momentum in travel arrangements post-pandemic. The Ridge Meadows Travel Expo attracted a varied crowd, with a predominant presence of older individuals alongside a mix of attendees.
As the Ridge Meadows Travel Expo concluded, Expedia Cruises is gearing up for a prize draw scheduled for February 6 on Facebook Live. This draw will reward participants who completed passports at the expo with various prizes.
