Life Sentence Handed to LaGrange Resident for 2021 Double Homicide
A LaGrange resident, Joshua Wayne Nutt, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of multiple charges in connection with a double murder that took place in August 2021. Nutt, also known by the alias Joshua Wayne Bradley or A-1, was found guilty by a Troup County jury after a week-long trial. His charges included two counts of malice murder, six counts of felony murder, and armed robbery, among others, leading to a total of four life sentences plus an additional forty years.
The tragic incident involved the shooting deaths of Marcus Lee Caswell, Jr. and Travis Michael Lodato, who had visited Nutt’s residence to collect a debt. The following day, Nutt lured the victims back to his home, where he fatally shot them before disposing of their bodies in West Point Lake. Investigators from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office uncovered key evidence, including DNA linking Nutt to the crime scene, which ultimately led to his conviction.
Evidence and Criminal History Contribute to Lengthy Sentence
Nutt’s violent history and gang affiliations played a significant role in the severity of his sentencing. He was already on parole for previous felony convictions, including armed robbery and drug-related charges, at the time of the murders. During the trial, it was also revealed that Nutt was connected to the notorious Ghostface Gangsters, a violent gang operating within Georgia’s prison system.
Nutt’s actions following the murders—spray-painting one of the victim’s motorcycles and attempting to break into their apartment—further emphasized his disregard for the law. His life sentence without the possibility of parole ensures that Nutt will remain behind bars, providing some measure of justice for the victims’ families. The case also highlights the dedication of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and the prosecution team in securing this conviction.
