Heroic Rescue by Charlotte County Deputy Saves Infant After Severe Traffic Collision

On the evening of February 8, 2024, a heart-stopping traffic accident occurred in Englewood, involving a high-speed motorcycle and a vehicle. Charlotte County Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove was on duty, traveling on S. McCall Rd., when he witnessed the motorcycle speeding past him. Within moments, a catastrophic collision unfolded at the intersection of Regina Dr., propelling Deputy Musgrove into action amidst the ensuing chaos.

A Deputy’s Timely Response

As the dust settled, Sgt. Musgrove approached the devastating scene to find the motorcycle mangled and a vehicle several feet away, from which cries could be heard. A quick assessment revealed a dire situation: two children were in distress within the vehicle. With assistance from bystanders, Sgt. Musgrove managed to extract the children. Amidst the wreckage, he discovered an unconscious infant pinned under the deceased motorcyclist. Without hesitation, he performed lifesaving chest compressions, a critical intervention that restored the infant’s breathing before EMS arrived.
