CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Office of Tourism, proudly announces the launch of the spring/summer 2024 edition of Enjoy Illinois, the state’s complimentary travel magazine that celebrates its diverse array of attractions, outdoor activities, events, and accommodations, making Illinois a destination worth exploring. The latest release of Enjoy Illinois magazine, now accessible both in print and online, positions itself as an inspirational guide, urging readers to uncover the state’s hidden treasures when planning a spring retreat, ranging from quaint small towns to vibrant summer festivals. The cover of the issue showcases a stunning image of backpackers trekking through the Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois, highlighting one of the many breathtaking natural wonders awaiting travelers throughout the state.
Daniel Thomas, Deputy Director of DCEO, Office of Tourism, expressed, “From the scenic landscapes of family-operated farms like Rendleman Orchards in Alto Pass to the dynamic ambiance of memorable festivals such as the Crossroads Eclipse Festival in Carbondale, commemorating the upcoming Solar Eclipse on April 8th, the latest edition of Enjoy Illinois shines a spotlight on distinctive experiences across the state.” He added, “As summer draws near, both visitors and residents can utilize this magazine as a valuable resource for planning upcoming events like the return of the NASCAR Street Race to Chicago and for discovering picturesque accommodations in charming towns like Woodstock, Oak Park, and Casey. Illinois truly offers a plethora of experiences to enjoy this spring and summer, earning its title as the Middle of Everything.”
The revamped magazine was designed to evoke wanderlust and promote travel to all corners of the state through a deliberate update. Upon perusing the issue, readers will encounter pull-out maps of Illinois to aid in charting out their next adventure in the state via various modes of transportation, enhancing the overall user experience.
Kylee Krizmanic, Editorial Director of Dotdash Meredith Travel, noted, “A shift in narrative is just one of the several noticeable changes in the spring/summer issue.” She continued, “The redesign elements encompass refined typography, impactful photography, and a neutral color palette that allows the visuals to narrate the tales. The feature ‘Explore the I&M Canal at Your Pace’ exemplifies our fresh approach, offering insights into the canal’s 175-year history and showcasing the myriad ways to explore the 96-mile route, whether by boat, bike, or even zipline.”
