A Rising Star from the Start
Victoria Matulevicius quickly captured the attention of her new coach, Shannon Spanos, with her impressive work ethic from the moment she joined the Montini Lady Broncos as a freshman. Despite her initial shyness, Matulevicius let her performance on the basketball court speak volumes, particularly noted during an early practice where she dominated with ten offensive rebounds in just five minutes. This relentless effort not only set the tone for her high school career but also laid the groundwork for the team’s culture under Coach Spanos.
Building a Legacy at Montini
Throughout her high school journey, Matulevicius played a pivotal role in propelling Montini’s basketball program to new heights. By her senior year, she led her team back to the state championships for the first time since 2020, achieving a commendable third-place finish in Class 3A with a record of 30-8. Her standout season earned her a place on the Class 3A Second Team All-State, a testament to her average of 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
More Than Just a Player
Off the court, Matulevicius emerged as a natural leader, admired not just for her athletic prowess but also for her academic achievements and kindness. Her influence extended beyond the game, setting a standard for future Montini athletes. In addition to her high school achievements, Matulevicius has also gained international experience, representing Lithuania in European championships.
