Investing in the Gift of Life: First Source for Women

CULLMAN, Ala.– The annual banquet fundraiser of the local pregnancy resource center, First Source for Women, was held on Thursday, April 4, at Loft 212. Comedian Gordon Douglas entertained the attendees.

During the event, Executive Director Janet Davis and Board President Julia Rushing addressed the audience, sharing personal stories and emphasizing the importance of the center’s services and the significant impact of donations on the lives of others.

Janet Davis expressed gratitude for the support received, highlighting that the center served 650 new clients and had over 2,000 client visits in 2023. The distribution of essential items such as 21,000 diapers, cribs, car seats, and clothing was also emphasized.

First Source for Women operates a baby boutique where parents earn “baby bucks” by participating in parenting classes. This initiative supports new and expecting mothers with resources and assistance until their children reach 2 years of age.

Julia Rushing emphasized the holistic support provided by the center, including emotional and educational assistance throughout the pregnancy and early stages of parenting. The theme of the event, “Invest in the gift of life,” resonated with the organization’s mission to empower women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Gordon Douglas, a Christian comedian, entertained the audience and highlighted the importance of fundraising to sustain the center’s outreach and ministry.

The evening concluded with a call for donations to support First Source for Women’s initiatives. Contributions can be made by contacting the office at 256-352-5683.
