LAKE OZARK, Missouri — An upcoming event tailored by and for women is set to take place this Saturday at The Lodge of Four Seasons, welcoming women aged 18 and above.
Organized by The University of Missouri Extension in collaboration with the Camden County Commission, #Elevate: An Empowering Experience for Women is a complimentary, full-day event.
#Elevate will encompass informative sessions, health check-ups, a motivational lunch and learn session, and an exhibition area showcasing vendors and services catering specifically to women.
Commencing at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, within the Campana Exhibit Hall at the Lodge of Four Seasons, the event will kick off with a keynote address by Jennifer K. Bardot, a renowned author and leader from St. Louis, focusing on Owning Your G.R.I.T.
Bardot boasts a remarkable track record, including being a five-time internationally best-selling anthologist, a recipient of the St. Louis 100 Titans of Industry, and the brain behind the G.R.I.T. Community, a thriving women’s leadership association boasting over 1,000 members.
The opening session promises to be a laid-back, motivational, and engaging workshop where participants will acquire strategies to cultivate their unique growth, resilience, and develop a plan of action to foster a stronger focus on their goals and perseverance.
The schedule for the remainder of the day is as follows:
- 10 a.m. – Becki Jennings of The Jennings Group will lead a session on “Financial Solutions: Designed by Women for Women.”
- 11 a.m. – Two simultaneous educational sessions will be available, focusing on building credit as an asset by experts from New Growth Women’s Business Center, and a presentation on self-care, stress management, and achieving a more balanced life by MU Extension human development specialist, Kyleigh Brown.
- 12:15 p.m. – A lunch & learn session featuring the Real Colors® program delivered by certified instructors. This session is ideal for individuals and organizations aiming to enhance their self-awareness and understanding of others. Both individual and group bookings for eight are still open.
- 1:45 p.m. – The educational segment of #Elevate will conclude with an expert panel discussion on women and wellness moderated by Dr. Lisa Washburn, Senior Program Director for MU Extension Health and Human Sciences and faculty member of the Department of Public Health, College of Health Sciences.
- 3 p.m. – The event will wrap up with Namaste Acres Yoga leading a drum circle to foster unity and connection through a structured and guided approach. Drumming in this manner offers physical, mental, emotional, and social benefits, enriching participants’ overall well-being and personal growth.
Before the keynote session, the day will kick off with a complimentary beginners yoga session from 7:45-8:45 a.m. at the Eagle’s Peak in The Lodge of Four Seasons, situated in the Seasons Bay complex, offering a stunning view of the Lake’s main channel through its expansive windows.
The exhibit hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., providing complimentary health and wellness screenings. Additionally, experts will offer demonstrations on skincare, hair care, beauty tips, healthy cooking on a budget, and other beneficial activities throughout the day.
Dr. Ashley Brown, MU Extension Assistant Professor and #Elevate organizer, emphasized, “The aim of #Elevate is to equip women with tools and insights to make informed decisions and progress with purpose in their lives. This event marks the beginning of a journey to positively impact the lives of women in mid-Missouri through education, connection, and community.”
Supported by dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and exhibitors, ten local female leaders have been appointed as community co-chairs for the 2024 #Elevate event. These co-chairs, including Jennifer Bethurem, Stephanie Dehner, Amanda Hayes, Constance Hoffman, Lisa Larsen, Ashley McDonnell, Page Miller, Stacy Pyrtle, Jordan Stanton, and Roxanne Ten Bensel, were selected for their commitment to service, unique perspectives, and talents contributing to the creation of #Elevate as an empowering experience for the community.
Lisa Larsen, operations manager for Showcase Publishing and a community co-chair, remarked, “A group of strong, purpose-driven female leaders have united to establish this educational event. I urge every woman, regardless of whether they have set New Year’s resolutions, to attend #Elevate in 2024, as it will equip you with the necessary tools to craft the life you aspire to live.”
Jennifer Bethurem, vice president of Public Affairs for Lake Regional Health System, Camden County Extension Council member, and an event co-chair, highlighted, “Achieving work-life balance can be daunting. #Elevate will provide women with practical strategies to enhance their personal and professional lives.
