A country artist is unveiling the depths of his personal life while launching new music for fans amidst a fresh chapter that includes his recent secret marriage in the snow-covered mountains of Colorado to his beloved partner.
Ian Flanigan, renowned for his notable performance on Season 19, spoke with Fox News Digital this week prior to the debut of his latest single on Friday, delving into themes of life, significant moments, and more.
Hailing from Saugerties, New York, Flanigan crossed paths with his now-spouse Kelsey Charles at a venue in Beaver Creek, Colorado, about a year and a half ago. The couple revisited the exact location recently to exchange vows.
Describing the Feb. 29 event as an intimate affair, Flanigan mentioned, “We eloped, so I just had my dad, brother, her parents, and a very close friend of mine present.”
When questioned about the possibility of meeting his future wife at a music festival, Flanigan humbly expressed that he ceased anticipating such occurrences years ago. “Every time I start making plans, they just don’t happen, so I just try not to expect anything,” he shared with a smile.
The musician, known for his candidness about his journey to sobriety, aims to combat the stigma surrounding isolation and addiction. He emphasized, “Everybody’s just one person away from somebody who’s struggling right now.”
Approaching nine years of sobriety this April, Flanigan reflected on his past struggles with alcohol, cultivated during his early years performing at local bars. By sharing his narrative, he has observed a shared desire among individuals to foster a supportive community for discussion on the topic.
Flanigan’s latest single, available for download as of March 29, is a tribute to his upbringing in upstate New York. Contrary to its title, the song is not melancholic but rather a celebration of cherished relationships. Produced by his friend and fellow artist Jon Stone, the track holds personal significance for Flanigan.
Looking ahead, Flanigan anticipates the release of his upcoming album, “The Man My Momma Raised,” and hopes for a reunion with his “The Voice” coach, Blake Shelton, whom he credits with profoundly impacting his life and offering invaluable guidance.
As he gears up to unveil more singles and videos from his new album throughout the summer, Flanigan remains dedicated to sharing heartfelt stories from his journey, particularly those inspired by his late mother, to whom the album is dedicated.
