As revealed exclusively by Variety, the faith and gospel-focused multiplatform channel catering to Black audiences is set to launch its inaugural “Impact Original” movie titled “The Life of Me,” offering family-friendly lifestyle entertainment.
Starring in this compelling film are Brian White from ABC’s “Scandal,” Brandon T. Jackson known for BET’s “Family Business: New Orleans” and the “Percy Jackson” series, and Danielle Nicolet recognized for her role in CW’s “The Flash.” The storyline follows a wealthy businessman, Marcus Banks, portrayed by White, who, disillusioned by his family’s unethical business practices, seeks solace in a quaint town where he discovers friendship, love, and a new perspective on life. However, his newfound tranquility is disrupted when he is compelled to confront his past, unveil his true identity, and reshape his destiny.
The narrative unfolds as Marcus, heir to a multi-billion dollar real estate empire, grows disenchanted with his family’s unscrupulous schemes that endanger innocent lives for financial gain. Opting for anonymity, Marcus retreats to a small community, assuming the guise of a humble handyman named “Dom.” Amidst this transformation, he crosses paths with Kennedy, played by Nicolet, a resilient single mother, dance instructor, and cafe owner who becomes both his romantic interest and a pillar of support. Together, they navigate the challenges of preserving her family’s legacy amidst the economic turmoil induced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Marcus grapples with his moral compass, the arrival of Simon, portrayed by Jackson, the ruthless enforcer for the Banks family, threatens to unravel his newfound peace. The cast is further enriched by Reece Odum as Jasmine, Marcus’ ambitious and callous sister, and Mandela Van Peebles as Daniel, Kennedy’s dedicated brother.
Written and directed by Ty Manns, “The Life of Me” is a production of The & Manns Mackie Studios, with Bishop Wayne T. Jackson and Royal Jackson serving as executive producers. Filmed on location in Nashville, the movie marks the inaugural “Impact Original” collaboration between Zerogravity and Impact Network.
Founded in 2010 by Bishop Wayne T. Jackson and Beverly Jackson, Impact Network, a 100% Black-owned independent enterprise, initially focused on broadcasting sermons and religious discourse. However, under the creative leadership of Royal Jackson, the company expanded its horizons in 2022 to include a diverse range of entertainment, emphasizing family-friendly content and scripted and unscripted series tailored to Black audiences.
The esteemed cast members, White, Nicolet, and Jackson, are represented by reputable agencies and legal counsel, underlining the caliber of talent involved in this groundbreaking production.
