Bluey Transforms Bunnings into a ‘For Real Life’ Hammerbarn Experience

A recent collaboration between two prominent Australian entities has been unveiled, as the home and lifestyle retailer introduces their Hammerbarn transformation – Wackadoo!

The beloved animated TV series, Bluey, which enjoys global recognition and local popularity, will be featured on the exterior signage of six Bunnings stores across Australia and one store in New Zealand, undergoing a Hammerbarn rebrand this month. This initiative is inspired by the well-received Bluey ‘Hammerbarn’ episode from Season 2.

The striking resemblance of Hammerbarn to Bunnings is no accident, as the episode drew inspiration from Bunnings Keperra in Queensland. In the ‘Hammerbarn’ episode, the Heeler family visits their neighborhood hardware store to purchase a pizza oven but ends up with a cart full of various items. Bluey and Bingo creatively utilize these items to construct their miniature homes, complete with garden gnome ‘husbands’.

Enthusiasts from all regions will have the chance to immerse themselves in the Hammerbarn experience firsthand and engage in complimentary Bluey-themed kids D.I.Y. workshops held every weekend throughout February. To participate, customers are required to reserve their spot online, with a fresh workshop theme scheduled for each weekend.

The excitement surrounding Hammerbarn extends beyond the store transformation, offering fans the opportunity to acquire exclusive Bluey products in-store, such as the garden gnomes featured in the Hammerbarn episode, pet toys, accessories, craft kits, and limited-edition Hammerbarn branded merchandise.

Ryan Baker, the Chief Customer Officer at Bunnings, expressed his enthusiasm for this unique transformation, emphasizing the opportunity for families to enjoy the essence of Bluey and Hammerbarn while retaining the familiar Bunnings elements. The collaboration with BBC Studios and Ludo Studio aims to bring the Hammerbarn concept to life in stores nationwide, catering to the numerous Bluey fans and customers who have affectionately referred to Bunnings as Hammerbarn since the episode aired.

Kate O’Connor, the Director of Brands and Licensing ANZ at BBC Studios, highlighted the relatable nature of Bluey’s depiction of childhood in Australia, with a visit to Bunnings, or Hammerbarn, being a cherished Australian weekend tradition. The collaboration between Bluey and Bunnings on such a grand scale offers fans in Australia and New Zealand a unique opportunity to experience Hammerbarn firsthand, including the acquisition of exclusive and highly collectible merchandise featured in the episode.

Ludo Studio expressed their delight in offering fans the chance to experience Hammerbarn in real life, emphasizing the episode’s connection to the Bunnings Keperra store in Brisbane, Bluey’s hometown. This collaboration fulfills the collective desire to bring the Hammerbarn experience to life for fans.
