BASEBALL

In the matchup between Nazareth and St. Viator, Nazareth emerged victorious with a commanding 13-3 win. Cooper Malamazian showcased an impressive performance, going 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs. Pitchers Luca Fiore and Andrew Kouris combined their efforts to strike out nine batters during the five-inning game. Additionally, Nick Drtina contributed with a triple and two walks, while Collin Roche and Landon Thome added to the offensive firepower with notable hits.

Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy secured a 10-7 win against Montini, highlighted by Eric DeCosta’s grand slam and Nate Burden’s solid pitching performance, recording four strikeouts over six innings. Jacob York also made significant contributions, going 2 for 2 with a homer, double, and three runs scored.

In a doubleheader, Westmont dominated St. Anne-Donovan with back-to-back 7-0 victories, thanks to stellar complete-game shutouts by pitchers Lucas Hicks and Noah Grimm.

Downers Grove North triumphed over Hinsdale South with a convincing 12-1 win. Jude Warwick and Russ Oros led the offensive charge, while Carter Cosenza excelled on the mound, striking out five batters to secure the victory.

SOFTBALL

Nazareth’s softball team kicked off conference play in style, securing victories of 15-8 and 16-6 against St. Viator. Pitchers Annabella Rychetsky and Catie Luzzi delivered strong performances, with Rychetsky striking out 15 in the first game and Luzzi adding eight strikeouts in the second. Rita Hynes, Kennedy Joe, and Dominique Chlada were among the standout performers with notable hits and RBIs.

Glenbard North emerged victorious over Wauconda with a high-scoring 18-10 win, fueled by impressive offensive displays including a grand slam by Tru Medina and a solo homer by Lauren Kozlovsky.

Fremd secured a 4-1 win against Wheaton North, highlighted by Makayla Hammer’s home run. Pitcher Erin Metz shined with 13 strikeouts, while Makayla Grantz and Reagan Crosthwaite contributed offensively with solid performances.

In another matchup, Glenbard South defeated Fenton 6-3, with Brooke Lange delivering a strong pitching performance and Evangeline Dupuiss, Delaney Spontak, Emma Full, and Lucy Mohorovic contributing offensively with crucial RBIs.

Montini showcased a dominant performance in their 11-1 victory over Mother McAuley, featuring home runs by Ariana Macias and Cristina Barrett.

GIRLS SOCCER

Benet secured a 2-1 victory over Marist, with Ivana Vukas scoring both goals for the Redwings. Assists came from Megan Bergman and Annie Fitzgerald, contributing to the team’s success.

Wheaton North started the Porter Cup with an impressive 9-1 win against Streamwood, showcasing their strength early in the competition.

Hinsdale Central emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Oswego, improving their record to 6-1 in the Plainfield Classic group play.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

At Glenbard East’s Springfest tournament, Glenbard West claimed the championship title by defeating St. Francis 25-21, 25-13. Lake Park secured third place by beating Glenbard East in a competitive match.

In the Elk Grove Quad event, Benet displayed a dominant performance by securing victories against Taft, Elk Grove, and Addison Trail, showcasing their strength and skill on the court.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

At the Riverside-Brookfield Relays, Nazareth’s Daniel Lewis achieved a commendable third-place finish in the 3,200-meter race, setting a new outdoor record for Nazareth with a time of 10:17.66.
