TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – An individual holding a significant position at Tyndall Air Force Base acknowledges the challenges but expresses a strong passion for the role.

Balancing roles as a mother, sister, Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and the 2023 First Sergeant of the Year, Master Sergeant Alexis Cabell of the 325th Fighter Wing boasts an array of titles and accolades.

Describing her as an indispensable member working closely with the Chief and the commander, SSgt. Cullen Thomas, a Military Working Dog Handler, highlighted Master Sergeant Cabell’s pivotal role.

SSgt. Thomas expressed his confidence in seeking assistance from Master Sergeant Cabell, stating, “I know that if I need support for myself or the airmen under my command, I can rely on her to provide the necessary help.”

Reflecting on their interactions, SrA. Nelly Kone, an Armorer in the 325th Security Forces, emphasized the positive atmosphere and mentorship provided by Master Sergeant Cabell. She also appreciated having a female First Sergeant to relate to on various levels.

Master Sergeant Alexis Cabell, serving as the First Sergeant of the 325th Security Forces Squadron, described her role as akin to corralling or managing a group of individuals.

Acknowledging the significance of having a female leader in a predominantly male environment, SSgt. Thomas commended Master Sergeant Cabell for setting a high standard through her leadership.

Despite facing resistance due to gender stereotypes, Master Sergeant Cabell pursued her aspirations, even when discouraged by others.

Balancing her duties, including deployments that separate her from her children, Master Sergeant Cabell highlighted the challenges of explaining her absence to her daughter and son.

Master Sergeant Cabell emphasized the importance of perseverance and support from her community in navigating the demands of her role.
