Reconnecting with Joy: Finding Balance Beyond the Hustle
At the Mamas in Business conference at Prairie Falls Golf Club, Heather Pincelli posed a thought-provoking question to the attendees: “How many of you feel like you’re stuck on autopilot?” Her session, part of a vibrant day filled with entrepreneurial insights, was designed to encourage participants to pause, reflect, and reengage with their inner selves. Pincelli, a therapist, focused on guiding attendees through exercises aimed at reconnecting with their bodies through breathwork, encouraging them to break free from overthinking.
“Most of us spend too much time in our heads, disconnected from our physical selves,” Pincelli explained. As part of a community that supports entrepreneurial women, Mamas in Business fosters opportunities for individuals to harmonize their professional and personal lives. The conference, themed “Beyond Limits,” featured local experts, hands-on workshops, and opportunities for professionals to network, offering a holistic approach to business and life.
Unleashing Playfulness: A New Approach to Well-Being
Pincelli’s session also delved into how unresolved trauma impacts daily life, affecting everything from breathing patterns to movement. She encouraged participants to challenge ingrained habits, prioritize personal well-being, and tap into their desires with a sense of clarity and purpose. “Adults often forget the joy of play,” Pincelli noted, urging the group to reconnect with the carefree aspects of life.
Through interactive exercises like eye-gazing and playful icebreakers, attendees rediscovered their ability to communicate without words and embraced moments of silence. One playful moment involved a cheerleading exercise where Kim Carlson fully embraced her role, while others, like Kristi Parry and Tanya Dolan, found their groove in the dance segments. Pincelli’s use of games like spin the bottle lightened the mood, helping attendees explore their playful sides and cultivate vulnerability in a supportive environment.
