Brice Rhodes Receives Three Consecutive Life Sentences Behind Bars

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The fate has been sealed for Brice Rhodes, who will now spend his life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

The conclusion of one of Louisville’s most gruesome murder cases unfolded today, marking the end of a seven-year journey since the tragic loss of Christopher Jones, Maurice Gordon, and Larry Ordway.

In court on Wednesday, the families of the victims reflected on Rhodes’ sentencing.

Antonia Jones, the sister of Christopher Jones, expressed, “I anticipated this day, but the prolonged wait was unexpected.”

After more than seven years of grieving, the families of Jones, Ordway, and Gordon finally found closure as Rhodes’ sentence was pronounced.

Deborah Wren, the grandmother of Larry and Maurice, emphasized her relief, stating, “I attended to ensure that he receives a life sentence without parole. His malevolence must be contained, preventing further harm to anyone, especially children.”

The trial faced numerous delays due to Rhodes’ confrontations, disruptions, and threats directed at legal representatives and judges. However, on Wednesday, Rhodes opted for silence as he exited the courtroom, a stark departure from his previous behavior that did not go unnoticed by the families.

Antonia Jones addressed the topic of forgiveness, acknowledging the challenge of pardoning such heinous acts, stating, “I cannot muster enough forgiveness to justify his actions. He will have to live with his deeds every single day.”

At the time of Rhodes’ sentencing, Larry and Maurice would have been 21 and 23 years old, respectively, while Jones was two years shy of fifty, a stark reminder of the lives lost.

Jackie Partee, the grandmother of Maurice and Larry, lamented the inhumane treatment of the victims, underscoring their value and the love they had for life.

Shan Jones, the brother of Christopher Jones, expressed the enduring pain, highlighting the irreplaceable loss of his mother and brother.

Despite the absence of an apology from Rhodes, the families found solace in focusing on what he could not take away from them.

Chastity Stoner, the mother of Christopher Jones’ son, shared how her son excelled academically and athletically despite the tragedy, emphasizing the resilience and strength within their family.

As they come to terms with the verdict, the families find comfort in the justice served for their loved ones, a sentiment echoed by Judge Julie Kaelin, who emphasized the importance of closure for both sides.

While the defense plans to appeal the case, the families express their desire for Rhodes to spend a lengthy sentence in prison, hoping for a sense of justice to prevail.
