For the indomitable Klaus Obermeyer, skiing at 104 years young this winter, swimming has been a cornerstone of his vitality and longevity. Klaus humorously shares his swimming routine, equating it to a journey from Aspen to Denver and back annually. His dedication to swimming, complementing the anaerobic intensity of skiing, underscores his zest for life. Drawing inspiration from Klaus’s vigor, consider embracing a sport you love consistently.

Cross-training, popular since the 1980s, diversifies workouts and enhances overall fitness. As a budding athlete and bike racer in Aspen during the emergence of mountain biking, I discovered a newfound passion and avenue for cardiovascular exercise. Finding purpose in this exhilarating sport, I was captivated—especially after my memorable debut in “The Snowmass Funny Buster” race.

Exercise should be enjoyable to be sustainable and beneficial. Reflecting on my father’s brief stint with a treadmill turned coat rack, I realized the importance of outdoor activities for individuals like him, true outdoorsmen at heart.
