A Heroic Act That Changed Lives Forever
A Florida mother has expressed deep gratitude for Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove, who she now considers part of her family after he saved her 6-month-old daughter, Lola, during a tragic accident in February 2024. Musgrove was driving along S. McCall Rd. when a speeding motorcycle, going over 100 mph, crashed into a car at an intersection ahead. When he arrived at the scene, he discovered the motorcyclist pinned against the vehicle, and more critically, the rider had landed on baby Lola, leaving her in desperate need of rescue.
Life-Saving Action in a Moment of Tragedy
Without hesitation, Sgt. Musgrove entrusted Foley’s older daughter to a bystander and immediately turned his attention to freeing Lola from the wreckage. After removing the motorcyclist and cutting the seatbelt, Musgrove performed CPR on the infant, who showed faint signs of life just before emergency responders arrived. Though baby Lola suffered serious injuries, including three skull fractures and a traumatic brain injury, her life was saved thanks to Musgrove’s swift response, and she has since been on the path to recovery.
A Lifelong Bond Forged in the Face of Adversity
Lola’s mother, Kayleigh Foley, was overwhelmed with emotion, especially after having recently lost her fiancé, but she credits Musgrove with saving her daughter and giving them hope during an unimaginable time. The family now refers to Sgt. Musgrove as “Uncle Dave,” and a strong bond has been formed between them. As the community rallies to help the family with medical expenses, raising over $77,000, the selfless actions of Deputy Musgrove continue to be a reminder of the power of courage and compassion in the face of tragedy.
